Robbie Fowler isn't too bothered by Liverpool's recent draw with Everton, with the Reds legend stressing that the club are still "in a great position."

Liverpool currently lead the Premier League by four points but can increase that advantage when they face Wolves on Sunday, and the former Reds striker believes his old club were the better of the two sides in the Merseyside derby despite the stalemate on the scoreboard.

Fowler was speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds, and said that the Toffees' strategy against Liverpool was effective, but that in the grand scheme of things the league leaders are still in pole position to claim the league title.

“Everton made things very hard for Liverpool, it was desire and guts but I was surprised that Liverpool didn’t hang on," Fowler said. "I thought they would see out the game.

“Did Liverpool deserve to win? I think they did on the balance of it and that leads to disappointment, Liverpool played into the hands of Everton by just getting the ball as far away from their goal as possible.

“We’ve seen in the Premier League that sustained pressure almost always leads to goals and it was Liverpool’s to lose before that.

“What I will say is, it’s not all doom and gloom. Liverpool moved a point further clear at the top from six to seven [on the day] and they are in a great position, these next few weeks will be vital.”
