The San Francisco 49ers won their opener on Sunday afternoon, but that came at a steep price.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that 49ers star tight end George Kittle was placed on injured reserve with a right hamstring injury suffered in the team's 17-13 victory over NFC West rival, the Seattle Seahawks. The designation means Kittle will miss at least the next four games for the 49ers, as they play those in a span of 23 days.
Kittle will at least miss games against the New Orleans Saints, at home against the Arizona Cardinals, at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and on the road against fellow rival, the Los Angeles Rams, which is on Thursday Night Football. It is unknown when the 31-year-old will return to the field, but the earliest could be on Oct. 12 at the Tampa Buccaneers.
The injury happened in the first half when Kittle went for a block and came up limping off the field. A short time later, the 49ers said Kittle would be out for the remainder of the game. Before the injury took place, Kittle had four catches for 25 yards and a touchdown, which happened on the opening drive.
You can see Kittle on DAZN with his wife Claire for the original series, titled "Kittle Things".
