Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Buffalo Bills Wild Card preview: Kick-off time, news, prediction and how to watch on DAZN

Watch the whole NFL Playoffs on DAZN for £19.99

On Sunday, the 13-4 Jacksonville Jaguars host the 12-5 Buffalo Bills at EverBank Stadium in an AFC Wild Card showdown absolutely brimming with star power.

With two top-shelf quarterbacks who thrive when the lights are brightest and rosters built to punish even the slightest mistake, this is a must-watch clash - making DAZN's latest £19.99 offer for every game throughout the postseason a no-brainer.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of a Wild Card matchup that has the potential to steal the weekend.

Who to watch

The first player most neutrals will think of when this matchup is discussed is Josh Allen - arguably the best player and biggest X-factor in this game.

The reigning MVP is capable of ripping a game open with his arm or legs and will be extra motivated to put the pain of six consecutive, and ultimately fruitless, postseason trips behind him.

Combining Allen with the NFL's leading rusher, James Cook, and any one of several wide receivers, including the latest addition Brandin Cooks, leading wideout Khalil Shakir, and tight end Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo have a dynamic offensive group capable of lighting up scoreboards and making opponents pay.

Jacksonville knows this all too well. Leading tackler Foyesade Oluokun, edge rusher Josh Allen, and safety Antonio Johnson will prioritise limiting Allen’s off-script damage, particularly on third down, where he turns broken plays into huge gains.

On the other side, this is Trevor Lawrence’s moment. The Jaguars’ quarterback, so often criticised for failing to reach the dizzying potential that made him the first overall pick in 2021, enters the playoffs healthy, confident, and surrounded by weapons that can stretch Buffalo’s secondary vertically and horizontally.

Even without rookie sensation Travis Hunter, the likes of wideout Parker Washington and tight end Brenton Strange have stepped up to provide Lawrence with the weapons he has needed to spearhead his side to an eight-game winning streak to close out the regular season.

Jacksonville tailback Travis Etienne has cooled down the stretch, but with yet another 1000+ yard rushing campaign under his belt, and as the unquestioned leader in the backfield, the Bills' defense, which has allowed a staggering 5.1 yards per carry, must be on its guard.

Keys to the game

  • The Allen effect: Defenses cannot guard Allen in the way they do other quarterbacks. If he doesn't beat you with his arm, he'll do it with his legs.
  • Turnover swing: Both Allen and Lawrence have been careful with the ball of late, with only one interception between them in the last six games. One tipped pass or strip-sack could decide this one.
  • Lawrence’s OL vs Bills pass rush: Lawrence has been sacked 41 times - the sixth-highest mark in the league. Buffalo has a middle-of-the-road pass rush group. The winner of this battle will give their team a real edge.

Kickoff date, time, and location

  • Date: Sunday, January 11
  • Kick-off time: 6pm GMT / 1pm ET / 10am PT
  • Venue: EverBank Stadium, Jacksonville, Florida

Prediction

Jacksonville has the quarterback, crowd, and momentum to take this game to the Bills. And if they get ahead, and Buffalo's run defense falters once again, the Jaguars have the means to stay in front.

However, Buffalo’s ability to generate offence when nothing is there, and to do it in multiple ways, gives them a slight advantage. Allen's playoff experience could also prove decisive.
