Five-star Stafford lights up London as Los Angeles Rams dominate the Jacksonville Jaguars 35-7

A surgical five-touchdown performance from quarterback Matthew Stafford helped the Los Angeles Rams (5-2) to a dominant 35-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-3) on Sunday at Wembley Stadium in London.

An 86,152-thousand-strong crowd roared on as the 37-year-old enjoyed a sensational day, throwing three scoring strikes to dynamic wideout Devante Adams and one apiece to Konata Mumpfield and tight end Terrance Ferguson.

A breakout performance from Jaguars' rookie Travis Hunter was little consolation for Liam Coen's side, who gave up seven sacks to a relentless Rams defense and found themselves scoreless until the fourth quarter.

Without the services of the injured Puka Nacua - in contention for the Offensive Player of the Year award after a blistering start to the season - Rams head coach Sean McVay's men could have been forgiven for struggling to find early offensive rhythm.

But from the moment Jared Verse - the reigning 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year - sacked Jaguars' quarterback Trevor Lawrence on the first drive of the day, there was a feeling this day might belong to the team from Los Angeles.

On the ensuing drive, Stafford came out firing on a time-consuming 13-play, 60-yard drive, which culminated in a five-yard touchdown catch by 2025 seventh-rounder Konata Mumpfield midway through the first quarter.

Los Angeles then doubled their lead when a 79-yard drive was rewarded with a two-yard touchdown grab from Adams.

Parker Washington lifted the Jags' London faithful with what appeared to be a punt return for a touchdown with 10:15 left in the first quarter, but the play was called back for holding.

That play summed up a dismal afternoon for the Jaguars, who, with 4:32 remaining in the second quarter, gave up a second touchdown catch to Davante Adams - this time from a yard out.

The 21-0 scoreline held for some time due to a largely uneventful start to the second half before Stafford's fourth touchdown pass of the day - this time to rookie tight end Terrance Ferguson -  put the game truly out of reach with 11 minutes remaining in the fourth.

Jacksonville's Hunter gave the Jaguars' faithful something to shout about with nine minutes remaining, capping his eight-catch 101-yard breakout game with the first touchdown of his career.

But with four minutes remaining, Stafford made it five, and Adams' three, on yet another one-yard catch.

The Jaguars (4-3) will go home with their tail between their legs, needing to find an answer for the two-game skid that threatens to upend their promising start to the season.

The Rams (5-2), meanwhile, will return to Los Angeles with the confidence that they can push on and create distance in the competitive NFC West.
