The end zone is a common term used in American football games.

Whenever a team is close to or scoring a touchdown, fans will hear commentators use the phrase 'end zone'. 

But what does it actually mean? DAZN reveals all. 

What is the end zone? 

The end zone refers the scoring area on the field in an American football game. This area is situated between the end line and goal line bounded by the sidelines. 

Where is an end zone on a field? 

There are two end zones which are used during a game and these can be found on opposite sides of the field. 

They are marked out on all sides by a white line indicating its beginning and end points. There are also square orange pylons on each corner which work as a visual aid. 

How big is an end zone? 

All end zones in the NFL are 10 yards by 53 ⅓ yards.

How do players score touchdowns in the end zone? 

A team can score a touchdown when the scoring players enters the end zone while carrying or catching the ball.

The scoring play will be called a touchdown when any part of the ball is directly above or beyond any part of the goal line between the pylons. 

The above criteria is also used if a team attempts to score a two-point conversion.
