With just 18 weeks of regular-season action and fewer than four weeks of playoff drama, the NFL has one of the shortest seasons of any major sport.
But that relatively small window is also one of the most intense, bringing non-stop, mouthwatering action to set pulses racing.
For fans trying to make the most of the NFL season, knowing when all the major milestones occur, including when the season ends, is key.
DAZN NFL News has all the details.
The first 2025 preseason game, dubbed the 'Hall of Fame Game', gets underway on Friday, August 1, 2025, when the Los Angeles Chargers face the Detroit Lions at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
But the game many fans will be even more eagerly awaiting is the regular-season opener, which kicks off on Friday, September 5, 2025, when the Dallas Cowboys and defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, rekindle their historic rivalry at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
The 2025 NFL regular season will last 18 weeks.
In the final week, the week commencing Monday, January 1, 2026, all 32 teams will be playing, and playoff berths will be at stake for many of those involved.

A total of 14 teams, seven from each conference, make the playoffs.
Only the number one seed in each conference will receive a first-round bye. The rest of the teams will compete in the Wild Card round.
