British cruiserweight champion Viddal Riley has revealed that his new promoter will be KSI's MF Pro Boxing.Â
In a social media post, Riley confirmed that he will be signing with the new promotional company which will have Amer Abdallah as president, and Kalle and Nisse Sauerland continuing to work with KSI after launching Misfits Boxing.Â
Following his decision to leave Boxxer in the summer, Riley, who has a huge social media following, would have had numerous promoters clamouring for his services.Â
In the end, it is KSI and MF Pro Boxing who have won the race in what is the start of an intriguing move when it comes to boxing promotion.Â
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Riley explained why he has opted for KSI's new promotional company instead of the established names such as Eddie Hearn's Matchroom and Frank Warren's Queensberry.Â
"In simple terms, it was the best move on the table. In this game you have to do what’s best for you," Riley said.Â
"I’m very happy with the move, it feels like what I’ve built so far, and the people who helped me get to the position I’m in, it’s a reunion."
Riley was once KSI's boxing trainer when then YouTuber first laced up the gloves, and this association has played a major part in the 28-year-old becoming a major force on social media.Â
After winning the British cruiserweight title against Cheavon Clarke in April, the Lonsdale belt could mark the start of a road to a world title shot, and with KSI's reach ability to turn a brand or personality into a household name, Riley believes MF Pro Boxing has the necessary tools for the next phase of his career.Â
"It's going to help me get to the next level. Not just in the ring, but then as a brand and all the assets I have in my business," Riley continued.Â
"The motivation was to get the best deal for myself for the next phase in my career."
Whenever fight fans hear 'Misfits Boxing', they immediately think of YouTubers and alike showcasing the worst boxing has to offer, but if there is one thing where it beats traditional boxing, it's self promotion.Â
Internet personalities are at the top of their game when it comes promoting their endeavours and that includes sporting contests which often generate huge audiences as a result
With KSI now stepping into the world of professional boxing promotion, one of entertainment's biggest stars has the ability to market his fighters through his various channels with millions of subscribers.
This is likely to make a number of fighters jealous of the platform Riley has been provided with and he is expecting MF Pro Boxing to be a disruptive force when the promotion gets up and running.Â
"Yeah for sure. I think this might be the start of a new wave for professional fighters," Riley responded when asked whether MF Pro Boxing could change Misfits' reputation for the better.Â
"Boxing is always in a place where things are quite samey, nothing new to join or be a part of.
"With MF Pro becoming a thing, it’s going to help a lot with Misfits’ reputation to be looked at as a professional boxing company, not just entertainment."
While a date is yet to be confirmed for MF Pro Boxing's first show, it will kick off with a bang and if the launch is smooth, and helps Misfits become reputation a credible boxing organisation, KSI's sweet science endeavours could see him quickly become a major force in the professional code.
