Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's big super-middleweight unification showdown with the unbeaten Billy Joe Saunders will take place in front of a huge crowd as coronavirus pandemic restrictions finally begin to ease in some parts of the world.
The winner will end up with all but one of the major 168lbs accolades and is expected to go on to attempt full unification against IBF champion Caleb Plant in September.
Canelo has established himself as the pound-for-pound king of boxing since his only career loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. back in 2013, while nobody has bested Saunders at middle or super-middle — though this will be by far his biggest test to date.
Information on the fight night, how to watch and even how to attend can be found below.
The Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders fight card takes place on Saturday, May 8th. It begins at 1 a.m. BST / 8 p.m. ET, and main event ringwalks are expected at approximately 4 a.m. BST / 11 p.m. ET. The event will be staged at the AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas, United States. The venue will be fully compliant with the latest COVID-19 pandemic guidelines. It will be the second time Canelo has fought at the venue and Saunders' first appearance there.
Indeed, there will be! Promoter Eddie Hearn announced that the AT&T Stadium will be hosting up to 70,000 fans for the fight, in what will be the biggest boxing crowd of the COVID-19 pandemic era. Guests are encouraged to wear face coverings for the duration of the card unless eating, drinking or if they are under the age of 10.
