Claressa Shields believes that enough time and money will tempt  Laila Ali to face her in a historic bout following the latest successful defence of her heavyweight crown.

The American, widely considered one of the greatest boxers of all time, further extended her unbeaten professional record with a points win over Lani Daniels in Detroit.

Her latest triumph comes amid a verbal back-and-forth with Ali, the former undefeated super middleweight champion, raising the speculation of a dream bout between them.

The latter is 47 and has not fought for the best part of two decades, but speaking on The Ariel x Ade Show, Shields does not feel that is a boundary to her accepting a fight.

"I know if I was 47 and one of these young girls came calling me out, I'd definitely come back and tear them up," she said, "I'd be proving to her that I'm a better fighter than her.

"It's all about the disrespect that she gives towards me. I've worked my butt off to get where I am, without having a famous father, and to raise the bar for women's boxing.

"She shouldn't need all that time. She's in the gym, she's training, she doesn't have the wear-and-tear that I have on my body.

"Give her enough time, give her enough money, she could come back. My only motivation is to prove she can't beat me and she can't knock me out.

"If we were to fight each other in our primes, I'd have still won, I would have knocked her out. The torch has to get passed."
