David Haye vs. Anthony Joshua: Joe Joyce predicts winner in fantasy match-up

David Haye vs. Anthony Joshua: Joe Joyce predicts winner in fantasy match-upMatchroom Boxing
The two fighters just missed each other in the heavyweight division.

Joe Joyce believes Anthony Joshua would have lost to David Haye if they met in their respective primes.

Joshua is a two-time world champion and is now in line to face the winner of the undisputed clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, which takes place live on DAZN on May 18.

His fight last weekend against Francis Ngannou ended in a second-round knockout defeat for the former UFC champion, and it marked the fourth consecutive win for the Briton since back-to-back losses to Usyk.

Haye was a unified cruiserweight champion who went on to also win a belt at heavyweight, but retired after two losses to Tony Bellew.

Joyce meanwhile was once the WBO interim heavyweight champion, giving the belt up to Zhilei Zhang, and he fights this Saturday against Kash Ali as part of his comeback (live on ESPN+ in the US).

Speaking to OLBG, he predicted that Haye would have won had he faced Joshua.

He explained: “Both in their prime, I think David Haye beats Anthony Joshua. I haven’t sparred Haye but in his prime he would have done Joshua, he had that explosive power and the head movement, he was unpredictable. Haye did struggle against [Wladimir] Klitschko, but his haymaker was heavy duty.

"His style at the time would have beaten AJ, he was very fast and hard to hit, I think Haye uninjured in his prime wins.”
