Eddie Hearn appears to be a fan of "Love Actually."
Hearn addressed the media in an unorthodox way during Thursday's final press conference ahead of Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn 2, which takes place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
In a nod to a famous scene from the beloved 2003 holiday film, Hearn utilised cue cards to deliver his message rather than speaking. The move was presumably in response to previous media events involving Hearn and Eubank Jr., as the fighter consistently spoke over Hearn and did not allow the Matchroom chairman to talk in the build-up to either fight.
When it came time for Hearn to speak at Thursday's event, the promoter — representing Benn — remained quiet while "Silent Night" began to play over the loudspeakers.
Hearn then produced several cue cards in sequence to deliver his message while Eubank Jr. provided commentary in response.
"Good evening all!" the cards read. "I know it upsets Chris when I speak. So I've taken a new approach.
"Thank you to His Excellency for his continued support. Last April we witnessed a British classic. Both men gave us a fight we will never forget.
"But for now, let me just say... just because it's fight week (and we always tell the truth)... to me, Conor Benn is perfect. He's ready for the performance of his career.
"So, get ready for another epic war. Make sure you all tune in. Live worldwide on DAZN."
The move drew laughs from the assembled media and fans in attendance, while Eubank Jr. mocked Hearn for his "embarrassing" display.
Regardless, it was another unique moment in a Eubank Jr-Benn rivalry that has a ton of them.
