Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that he was once Team Eubank before linking up with Conor Benn for his professional boxing journey.

Benn is preparing for the biggest fight of his career so far when he faces Chris Eubank Jr on Saturday, April 26 live on DAZN PPV

This fight is the latest chapter in an iconic British boxing rivalry between their respective fathers Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn who produced two thrilling contests during the 1990s

The Hearn family found themselves at the centre of these two fights with Eddie's father, Barry Hearn, being Eubank Sr's promoter.

Speaking to DAZN ahead of the showdown at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Hearn reflected on the time he spent with Eubank Sr.

"We were Team Eubank ironically, my dad promoted Chris Eubank for many, many years," Hearn said.

"He was the best man at Chris Eubanks’ wedding, and I remember going down to Brighton, just being around him.

"He took me to one of his many wardrobes and told me to pick out a leather jacket for myself, I went straight for the Versace one, little furry collar. It was beautiful, it must have been a couple of grand.

"I said I’ll have that one please. He was an extremely generous character; a lot of my childhood was around him. I travelled the world, watching his fights."

While the Hearn family was closely aligned with the Eubanks, Eddie was also a "secret" Nigel Benn fan to the extent where he had to hide his admiration for 'The Dark Destroyer'.

"Obviously with my dad, Nigel Benn wasn’t really part of the stable, but Nigel Benn was the people’s champion. The roughhouse, the guy that just wanted to tear up all the time.

"I was kind of like a secret fan of Nigel Benn.

"Back then that rivalry was so intense. I remember being given a Nigel Benn jacket once. I always used to have to wear it on the sly."
