Jaron Ennis returns to action this weekend, live on DAZN , as he looks to make an assault on the super-welterweight division following a successful run at 147lbs.
Victory for Ennis will likely lead him towards a world title shot in the first part of 2026 and there’s plenty of quality operators he can test himself against including Vergil Ortiz, Sebastian Fundora, and Xander Zayas.
On a double weekend for Matchroom where Ennis headlines in America and Dave Allen takes centre stage in Britain against Arslanbek Makhmudov , Hearn, who expressed disappointment in missing Allen’s big opportunity, will be ringside to witness Ennis’s latest battle.
Promoting in America for many years now, Hearn has bolstered Matchroom’s presence on the other side of the Atlantic with a string of high-profile signings including Shakur Stevenson and Jesse Rodriguez, but does he believe Ennis is the best addition he has made to his Stateside stable?
Currently 34-0 with 30 early finishes, Ennis, going back to his early days as a professional when the late Cameron Dunkin was guiding him, has long been seen as one of America’s brightest talents.
Hearn, who has reverted to the basics of promoting by making Ennis a must-see attraction in his home city first, has long admired the versatile 28-year-old and he has heaped praise on his charge just days before his showdown with Lima.
“I think talent wise, he’s the best fighter I’ve ever signed,” said Hearn during an exclusive interview with DAZN News .
“it’s very difficult because you’ve got Shakur who we’ve worked with. Bam Rodriguez, a phenomenal fighter on the pound-for-pound list. So many young guys we've brought through like Ray Ford and Diego Pacheco, but for me, Ennis is the full fighting package.
“Some guys fight defensively. Some guys just want a war. This guy has it all. The only fighter you can really liken him to is Terence Crawford. Someone who is just so versatile that he can do it all. I think Ennis vs Crawford would be mouthwatering.”
