Frank Warren believes victory for Fabio Wardley against Oleksandr Usyk next year would be "the biggest thing ever" in world boxing.
The WBA and WBC interim champion is the mandatory challenger to the Ukrainian after upsetting Joseph Parker in London last month.
Wardley famously came through white-collar ranks rather than the traditional amateur circuit, and now sits on the brink of history.
For Queensberry Promotions boss Warren, an upset against Usyk would be a seismic event that echoes through the sport's famed legacy.
“If he did that, it is, in world boxing, the biggest thing ever,” he told The Ring. “Not British [but] world boxing [with] no amateur experience.
"[It is] a couple of white-collar fights fighting Joe Blow from Alamo, and then, after twenty-one fights, he’s the mandatory challenger to Usyk.
"If Usyk don't fight him, he'll be declared champion. It's Cinderella stuff, and he’s learnt on the job. He's a lovely guy, and he's a warrior.
“He's got a good heart. What people are also forgetting, he's got a good chin. He took some whacks in that fight [with Parker].
“If he fights Usyk, it’s a crossover fight. Everybody knows Usyk. That's what it would be. If he doesn't, he'll be declared champion."
Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn's much anticipated rematch is live and exclusive on DAZN PPV on Saturday, November 15. Buy for £24.99 UK / $59.99 US.
