Frank Warren has suggested Mitchell Smith will fight with Queensberry again after he defeated Arnie Dawson last month, stating that the star has done "extremely well".
Previously considered one of British boxing's rising stars a decade ago, the lightweight suffered a points loss in 2015 to George Jupp when seemingly primed for success.
Smith subsequently served a series of prison sentences in the intervening years and has been steadily rebuilding his reputation since December of last year.
Victory over Dawson, whom he dropped in the first round en route to a unanimous decision, however, marks an impressive turnaround, with Warren keen to give him another shot.
"Of course I'd put him on again," he told The Ring. "I like Mitchell, he's alright. He came over to me afterwards. We sat down and had a chat. I was really pleased for him
"He's done extremely well. [Dawson] showed a lot of character and a lot of heart as well. But Mitchell has actually done something that most guys don't do.
"Mitchell has had another opportunity and he's taken advantage of it. He, along with a couple of other fighters I can think of, has wasted their talent [at points].
"When they are so talented, they [can] mess up their careers because they can sit around or do stupid things. But he's done what he's done to get himself back."
