Frank Warren is expecting heavyweight Moses Itauma to fight in Manchester later this year, the promoter revealed in an interview with BoxNation.

After an emphatic first round knockout against Dillian Whyte last month, Itauma has been the talk of the boxing world during a quiet few weeks for the sport.

With his latest performance against a notable name in Whyte going viral, fight fans are eager to see him in action sooner rather than later and against a world level opponent.

Reflecting on Itauma's showing against Whyte, Warren is still amazed by the 20-year-old and the fact his chin is yet to be tested.

"Well, I’m pleased about that, I don’t want to see him take any shots in any fight," Warren responded when asked about the lack of danger posed by Itauma's opponents so far.

"People want to see his chin get tested, I don’t. It will happen, it happens to all fighters, there’s going to be somebody who doesn’t go, who stands up."

The veteran promoter then teased Itauma's return to the ring with December 13 the pencilled in date with a top 10 level opponent in the opposite corner.

"He’s going to be out again before Christmas.

"On December 13, Manchester. It will be somebody in the top 10, of course.

"Manchester will be sold out with Moses."

Filip Hrgovic makes sense for Moses Itauma

Analysis from DAZN News Sports Writer Matt Astbury

Ranked number one with both the WBA and WBO, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when regarding a world title shot for Moses Itauma.

However, Oleksandr Usyk's status as undisputed champion and whether the belts will fragment is still unknown, therefore Itauma should look to keep active.

If he fights on December 13, Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgovic is the perfect opponent for the hard-hitting Brit.

Winning a thrilling encounter with David Adeleye in Riyadh on the undercard of Itauma-Whyte, Hrgovic has proven he is willing to step into the fire with new trainer Abel Sanchez implementing a more aggressive approach.

While Itauma's chin is yet to be troubled, it needs to be tested sooner rather than later. When he inevitably gets his world title shot, there will be dangerous punches coming his way.

Hrgovic will look to trade with Itauma which will be the perfect scenario for the latter who will look to hopefully bank some much needed rounds against the experienced Croatian.

By producing another statement performance against a second established heavyweight before the year's end, Itauma will set himself up for what will be a massive 2026.
