Tyson Fury’s retirement appears to be short-lived, yet again, after comeback plans were revealed for the former world champion by His Excellency, Turki Alalshikh.

Fury shocked the world earlier this year when he confirmed he was done with boxing following a second loss to Oleksandr Usyk .

Despite his announcement, many within the boxing community were not convinced by the sincerity of his retirement, and those doubts now appear to have been justified after a post on X from His Excellency.

"The 'Gypsy King' will be back," said Alalshikh on social media.

"I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh season in 2026. We have a rabbit to hunt."

With Usyk seemingly the target for Fury, could a trilogy meeting between the pair take place next year even though Fury is 2-0 down in the series?

If Fury sits the rest of the year out whilst waiting for Usyk then he will have been inactive for well over 12 months by the time the eventual fight comes around.

In the meantime, Usyk also has the threat of Daniel Dubois to overcome when the pair collide in a huge rematch on July 19.

Those closest to Fury will be fully aware of what plans need to be carried out to get him back to world title contention and a comeback fight at the backend of this year could be required to shake off the ring rust.

If Fury can come through that unscathed then it could all systems go towards a third meeting with Usyk, a rivalry he is desperate to secure a win in.

If that cannot be arranged, or Usyk loses to Dubois, then other major fights could still be landed for Fury.

The Anthony Joshua fight will always be there as long as both fighters are active and a showdown with Dubois could also do lucrative business.

No matter who Fury fights, the drama is pretty much almost guaranteed, and if his return does take place, no matter who is in the opposite corner, the eyes of the boxing world will be fixed on Fury to see whether his comeback is justified or whether he should have remained retired.
