Hamzah Sheeraz hopes to face Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez following his move to super middleweight, and believes the Mexican will dismiss Terence Crawford this September.

The Briton missed out on his shot at a middleweight world title when he failed to dethrone Carlos Adames for the WBC crown earlier this year, subsequely stepping up a class.

Against Edgar Berlanga in July, Sheeraz upset expectations to stop the American in five rounds and move himself firmly into the conversation at 168 lbs.

Canelo currently reigns as undisputed champion in the division and faces four-weight world champion Crawford next month in his latest defence.

If Alvarez comes through his latest bout however, Sheeraz has hopes that he can be one of the next leading contenders to face him for his crown.

“The Canelo fight, it’s there,” he told the BBC 5Live Boxing Podcast. “It’s the one, providing he goes through Crawford with ease, and I believe he will.

“But at the same time, 168 pounds, I think in the top 10 there isn't one fight where you can match two fighters and be confident one wins.

"In terms of the fights themselves, any one of them are good to make. But ideally for me, I'd like to face Canelo because the dynamics of the sport as they are now...

"You've got the opportunity to face one of the greatest fighters in boxing so why not challenge myself and go for it and give it my all?”
