Holly Holm is back like she never left.
The boxing and MMA legend made her return to a boxing ring for the first time since May 2013 and delivered a textbook boxing masterclass in defeating Yolanda Vega by a unanimous decision shutout Saturday night.
After 10 rounds of action, judges inside the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and live on DAZN, scored it 100-90 across the board, making the 43-year-old Holm’s return to the sweet science a triumphant one.
Holm (34-2-3, 9 KOs) took a 30-year-old, previously undefeated Vega (10-1, 1 KO) and gave her the first loss of her career, finding an early home with her lead left hand and seemingly only growing stronger from there.
With more than a decade out of the boxing ring, Holm did not show any signs of ring rust at all. The veteran moved with smooth, deliberate footwork, was shrewd with her distance management and pointed with her precise punches.
The victory was impressive to the point that Holm admitted she will be watching the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano trilogy bout July 11 under a watchful eye as a possible challenge to the winner.
Holm signed with Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions in May with her dominant win over Vega serving as the closing of the prelims of the Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. main card DAZN Pay-Per-View.
