Jake Paul has claimed that former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is overrated and is confident that he could beat the British star if the two decided to fight.
Paul returns to the ring on June 28, live on DAZN PPV, when he takes on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Anaheim, California.
'The Problem Child' is a divisive figure within boxing circles, and he is someone who is not afraid to express his opinion, even if they rub certain people the wrong way.
In a social media post where Paul was ranking his 10 most overrated athletes, Joshua found himself on the list and it appears a rivalry is brewing.
In a report by talkSPORT, Paul revealed that he has been exchanging messages with the heavyweight and teased a possible showdown.
“He DM’d me today like saying “LOL” to one of my training clips and then I sent him a LOL’ with a picture of him getting knocked out by Daniel Dubois," Paul said.
“And so I guess like we’re kind of s—t talking, behind the scenes a bit. But I have a lot of love for Anthony Joshua.
“I think this type of stuff is funny and he’s a great guy and I think just a fight between us would be awesome and I do believe I can win.”
While a clash with Paul would generate plenty of interest and financial reward, he will not be on Joshua's radar with his return being prepared for later this year after being knocked out by IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois last September.
According to his promoter Eddie Hearn, there is a strong chance AJ could retire in 2026 and believes three fights involving the Olympic gold medalist would take place before the gloves are hung up for good.
