Jaron Ennis harbours ambitions of boxing in the United Kingdom, with the former welterweight champ set for a taste of British fight night atmospheres when he sits ringside for Chris Eubank Jr’s rematch with Conor Benn.
The undefeated American fighter, 35-0 (31 KOs), has exclusively fought in the United States since turning professional in 2016. Ennis has his eyes on a bout at Wembley, stating that he would discuss the possibility with his promoter Eddie Hearn, head of Matchroom Boxing.
Currently recuperating after his explosive debut at 154lbs when he blew away Uisma Lima at the start of October to claim the interim WBA super welterweight title, Ennis will cross the pond in November to support stablemate Jack Catterall.
Catterall recently linked up with Ennis’ father and trainer, Derek ‘Bozy’ Ennis, with the welterweight facing domestic rival Ekow Essuman on the undercard of Eubank Jr-Benn II.
Looking forward to taking in a British boxing card, Ennis told The Ariel Helwani Show: "I haven't been there yet, hopefully I go over there. Actually my dad has Jack (Catterall) fighting, so I will be there.
"I'll talk to Eddie (Hearn), I want to fight at Wembley, got to do that one time. I would love to fight in the UK, that's when I'll know I hit mega superstar [status]."
After unifying the IBF and WBA titles at 147lbs earlier in 2025, ‘Boots’ made the decision to vacate his belts and campaign at super welterweight after admitting to struggles making weight.
Immediately ranked by sanctioning bodies at his new weight, his first fight at 154lbs has further cemented Ennis’ position as a title contender. Interestingly, Ennis was previously linked to a fight with Conor Benn, but talk has quietened since he moved up to super welterweight.
Benn has announced his intentions to drop back down to 147lbs after fighting Eubank Jr for a second time at middleweight on Saturday November 15, live on DAZN PPV.
