Former Olympian and British super welterweight Josh Kelly has called out Conor Benn after his emphatic win over Flavius Biea.

The pair clashed in Newcastle on Friday night, and Kelly safely dispatched his opponent with a left hook in the first round. Biea was slow to meet the count which resulted in the referee waving off the contest.

After this emphatic performance, it was no surprise that Kelly was asked who he would want to face next, and there was one name on his mind.

"If it's a big domestic fight, [I want] Benn," Kelly said.

"If it's not Benn, if he doesn't want to take that fight, then it'll be a big world-title fight.

"In every governing body I'm ranked number four or number three, two in some governing bodies.

"I'm there. I've been knocking on the door for some time. I'm in my prime now. Let me run, let me run."

A domestic clash between Benn and Kelly would certainly be an exciting one with both men not afraid to let their hands go.

However, following his thrilling battle with Chris Eubank Jr in April, Benn's star status has risen significantly with a rematch rumoured for later this year.

The weight for a Kelly-Benn fight would also prove likely to be a sticking point.

Benn's meeting with Eubank Jr saw him move up from welterweight to middleweight, meaning a move down a division will be required for 'The Destroyer' to face Kelly which fighters are often reluctant to do if they feel comfortable in the higher weight classes.
