Queensberry Promotions have announced Moses Itauma’s fascinating heavyweight encounter with Jermaine Franklin has been postponed until March 28.
The pair had been set to collide later this month on January 24, but an injury to Itauma now means the fight will take place two months later.
Itauma had been expected to receive a significant test from Franklin due to the American's greater experience after sharing 12 hard rounds with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte.
Victory over Franklin was intended to be a springboard for Itauma to push on and challenge for a world title later this year, but those plans are now on hold as he must wait a little longer to prove himself against Franklin.
The whole show is postponed, but the same fights are still set to take place in March instead, again live and exclusive with a DAZN subscription.
DAZN News will have more information when available.
Moses Itauma’s fight postponement is a huge blow to everyone involved with the show as well as boxing fans who were set for an unbelievable start to 2026 with what appeared to be a mouth-watering show.
No details have merged regarding Itauma’s injury, but even the smallest knock would be treated with the utmost seriousness as Frank Warren cannot afford to have one of the most prized members of stable fighting less than 100%.
Boxers compete with small injuries all the time, but Itauma’s blueprint to becoming world heavyweight champion has long been meticulously planned and no risks will be taken with possibly the next face of boxing.
March 28 is only two months away and when assessing the bigger picture, it will be a small delay on Itauma’s quest to the top of the heavyweight division.
Warren, one of boxing’s shrewdest minds, may have been tempted to push on and get the show up and running, but his duty of care towards Itauma is more important and delaying this fight may be end up being the best thing he ever does for Moses’ career.
