Few know better than Frazer Clarke the capabilities of Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk ahead of their much-anticipated rematch at Wembley tonight.
The Wembley Stadium showdown will be broadcast live on DAZN PPV and pit a pound-for-pound great in Usyk, who last year had back-to-back wins against Tyson Fury , against a Dubois who is at the peak of his boxing powers.
Clarke has never fought either but he has sparred with both and spent time with Usyk in Spain only last month as the Ukrainian ramped up his preparations for this evening’s showdown.
Clarke’s history with Dubois dates back to their time together in camp for Team GB and he sparred with him again before the Londoner’s victory over Anthony Joshua last year.
British heavyweight Clarke, who beat Ebenezer Tetteh in his last fight in April, said in an exclusive interview with DAZN: “I believe this rematch between Usyk and Dubois will be a fight of two halves.
“Usyk is going to have to be so defensively savvy in the first half of the fight because Dubois will apply pressure.
“But the longer the fight goes on, the more chance Usyk has of winning – and not just winning.
“If he gets into his rhythm, and it gets past five or six rounds, then I think he can stop Daniel again with an accumulation of punches.
“You’ve basically got the puncher in Dubois versus the boxer in Usyk.
“I’d give Daniel a chance because he’s such a big hitter, but I’d have to put Oleksandr Usyk as the favourite.”
Usyk, 38, is already an all-time great after racking up 23 straight professional wins in a glorious career which has seen beat Derek Chisora, Joshua twice and Tyson Fury twice.
At 27, Dubois is more than a decade younger than his rival but Clarke said: “This is a massive fight for whoever wins it.
“It’s the heavyweight division in a magnificent setting and all eyes from the boxing world will be on this fight on Saturday night.
“The winner takes the plaudits and Daniel Dubois will definitely announce himself as a major force if he beats Usyk.
“He will have done it the hard way because he’s lost and come back, whereas if Usyk wins then I’d probably say he cements himself right up with some of the all-time greats – an elite of the heavyweight division.
“I’m talking about the likes of Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, Larry Holmes and George Foreman.
“Any legends that you can think of, then you can put Usyk well and truly in that category, if he isn’t already.
“Just look at the British names he’s already beaten – Fury twice, AJ twice, Tony Bellew, Derek Chisora and Daniel Dubois.
“Not one of those names is an easy fight but he’s beaten them all with flying colours.
“Victory would cement him on the Mount Rushmore of heavyweight boxers.”
