What did Oscar De La Hoya say to Bill Haney in press conference clash? Professional lip reader reveals all

Garcia & Canelo PPV Bundle - $90; £34.99; €39.99

Tensions are beginning to flare ahead of a historic night of boxing on Friday night.

For the first time in the sport's history, a fight card will take place in New York's iconic Times Square and fight fans can watch it live on DAZN PPV

The event will be headlined by Ryan Garcia's clash with Rolando Romero, while former undisputed lightweight champion and Garcia rival Devin Haney will feature on the undercard against Jose Ramirez

It's expected that if Garcia and Haney emerge from Times Square with victories, the two will meet in a rematch of their 2024 contest later this year.

The opening bell for their respective fights may not have been rung just yet, but Garcia's promoter Oscar De La Hoya clashed with Devin's father, Bill Haney, at Wednesday's press conference.

Haney ignited the confrontation by saying the following, "Don’t nobody wanna be with Golden Boy no more!" causing De La Hoya to stand up to take matters into his own hands.

The pair verbally exchanged off microphone, but professional lip reader Nicola Hickling was able to work out was being said in an exclusive piece of analysis for Covers.com

"What? What?," De La Hoya said as he began to unbutton his suit jacket.

"You had your shot...what you got? You're washed up...come on it's time to play."

Haney then returned to his seat, but he had one last message for De La Hoya, "You had a shot."

Garcia and Haney's first fight as professionals was one to remember with the former knocking down his opponent three times before being declared the winner by majority decision.

This result has since been declared a no-contest after it was revealed that Garcia had failed a drugs test in the build-up and on the day of his clash with Haney.
