Like most boxing fans, Andry Ruiz Jr. can’t wait for tomorrow’s showdown between Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder.
The two veterans finally face each other in a highly-anticipated heavyweight contest at London’s O2 Arena in a bout which seems certain to deliver plenty of excitement, and it is exclusively live on DAZN PPV.
Ruiz Jr. was a huge outsider when he famously stopped Anthony Joshua to become heavyweight champion in 2019, and he will be a very interested viewer when Chisora and Wilder square off in the UK.
“I think the fight between Chisora and Wilder is a really interesting fight,” Ruiz Jr. told www.casino.org.
“Both of them are hungry. I feel that if Chisora pressures him and hits Wilder with a good shot, I think he has a good chance.
“But if Wilder gets Chisora with a good right hand, it could probably be over as well.
“So right now for me it's more of a 50-50 chance, but I feel if Chisora stays smart, careful, and dominates and pressures Wilder, then he can win.”
Ruiz Jr., who was last seen drawing with Jarrell Miller in August 2024, is very keen on getting his name back in the mix for a heavyweight title shot.
A fight against the winner of tomorrow’s contest could be the quickest route for him to do so, and Ruiz Jr. admits he would love to face the victor.
He added: “For sure. I already told Eddie Hearn that it would be an honour to fight either of them.
If he makes that fight happen, that would be great. I’d love to fight in London or anywhere in the UK.”
“I feel it doesn't really matter who I'd fight, but with me and Wilder, there's always been this thing where we're gonna fight, and then it doesn't end up happening.
“It feels like we're just promoting a fight that never happens, so it gets my fans and the people mad.”
