The final fight of Crawford’s career saw him jump to super-middleweight to face the legendary Canelo Alvarez with undisputed honours at stake.
Crawford began the fight a small underdog, but he produced a patient display to win on the scorecards before sailing off into the sunset.
Crawford was linked to Errol Spence for large portions of his career as the pair proved themselves as the leading welterweights during a prosperous time for 147lbs fighters.
When they did eventually clash, Crawford made a mockery of the pre-fight expectations that it would be a close battle as he dropped Spence three times before the contest was stopped in round nine.
Shawn Porter held a reputation as one of boxing’s toughest fighters during his run on top, but those credentials were sternly put under pressure when he faced Crawford in 2022.
Porter had several big moments in the fight as he won several rounds to make the scorecards close, but when Crawford was prompted by his corner to step it up, Porter could not live with the pace, and he was stopped for the only time in his career.
Viktor Postol was once considered boxing’s next big thing from a Eastern Europe, but his momentum was spectacularly derailed when he faced Crawford in 2016.
The talented Ukrainian entered the unification clash as unbeaten fighter, but he was well beaten from the opening bell as Crawford put on the kind of performance that would go on to be his trademark.
Ater dethroning Ricky Burnis in Scotland to become world champion in 2014, Crawford would jump in the deep end to make his first defence against the dangerous Cuban, Yuriorkis Gamboa.
Gamboa would have some small successes in the bout, but Crawford’s accuracy would be telling as he dropped Gamboa four times before the contest was called off.
