We are a little less than 24 hours away from the interim WBC super welterweight title clash between Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Erickson Lubin from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, live on DAZN.
The final thing before fight night is the weigh-in on Friday. Ortiz and Lubin had no issues with the former coming in at 153.8 and the latter coming in bang on at 154 pounds.
People have wanted Ortiz to face former unified welterweight champion Jaron "Boots" Ennis. To Ortiz, though, Lubin is the one he wanted for this fight date.
"He's the one I wanted to fight," Ortiz said. "I think he's a good fighter. He has the dog in him. You guys are going to see it on Saturday. It's going to be fireworks.
When asked about Ennis, who's expected to be at Saturday's fight, Ortiz dismissed it completely.
"It doesn't matter who shows up," Ortiz said. "We've got one opponent that we're worried about Saturday night. We're going to try and take care of business. We've got no distractions right now."
Lunin has a chance to spoil all the talk of Ennis vs. Ortiz. He's here to fight the best, and to him, it's Ortiz.
"Because I want to fight the best," Lubin said. "I always want to fight the best. I want to fight the cream of the crop of the division. One thing about Vergil Ortiz. He doesn't know how to lose as a professional. But one thing about me. I know how to take 0's and unblemished records. It's an exciting fight and matchup."
Here are the results from the Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Erickson Lubin weigh-in.
