Who is Dillian Whyte? Background, record, championships, biggest wins of Anthony Joshua's next opponentDAZN

The rematch between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte has been cancelled, Matchroom's full statement can be found here

Dillian Whyte has one last chance to cement himself as legitimate heavyweight title contender when he takes on Anthony Joshua on August 12.

The fight, which will be shown live on DAZN, is the first time Whyte and Joshua have gone head-to-head since their encounter at London's O2 Arena in 2015.

Whyte at times showed that he had the tools to beat Joshua, but 'The Bodysnatcher' was eventually stopped in the seventh round by his rival who went onto to win the IBF world heavyweight title in his next fight.

Now, after failing to beat WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury last year, the door is quickly shutting for Whyte when it comes to pursuing the big names which makes this fight against Joshua massive when it comes to prolonging his caeer.

DAZN takes a look at the career of Whyte ahead of this career defining fight.

What is Dillian Whyte's record?

Dillian Whyte boasts a 29-3 professional record with 19 of those wins coming by way of knockout.

Championships

Dillian Whyte has not held any major titles, but he has challenged for a world title when he fought WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in April 2022.

This fight did not go to plan however for Whyte, who was stopped in the sixth round by a brutal uppercut from Fury.

Biggest wins

Whyte and Parker meet in hard-hitting contest; July 28, 2018

The heavyweight contest between Dillian Whyte and Joseph Parker was one which unexpectedly caught fire.

It had everything fans would have wanted and Whyte looked to be cruising to victory after knocking down Parker in both the second and ninth rounds.

However, Whyte was given a scare in round 12 when a Parker right hand sent the British fighter onto the canvas in the closing stages. Whyte was able to rise back off the canvas and managed to see the fight out, and was awarded the win on the judges' scorecards.

Whyte knocks out veteran Chisora in rematch; December 22, 2018

After beating Derek Chisora two years earlier via a split decision, Dillian Whyte ran it back with British veteran in what was a thrilling encounter.

Unlike the first meeting, Whyte made sure that the fight did not go the full 12 round distance and hit Chisora with a counter left which sent him careering backwards signalling an end to the fight.

Whyte earns redemption against Povetkin; March 27, 2021

After being humiliated seven months previously by Alexander Povetkin at Fight Camp, Dillian Whyte looked to settle the score in Gibraltar against the former world title challenger.

Unlike the first fight where a lapse in concentration saw Whyte knocked out by Povetkin, 'The Bodysnatcher' produced a disciplined performance in the rematch and in the fourth ended the fight with a brutal left hook.

This victory then put Whyte at the front of the queue for a number of potential world title opportunities.
