The UFC middleweight champion has had his say.

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya says Francis Ngannou "will make history" when he fights Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia on October 28.

Ngannou, a former UFC heavyweight champion, and Adesanya are two of the promotion's most successful African-born fighters, and 'The Last Stylebender' regularly refers to Ngannou as his brother.

Fury is a heavy favourite to win the fight, with Ngannou stepping outside the world of MMA to take on boxing's heavyweight champion at his own sport.

But Adesanya, who defends his middleweight title at UFC 293 on Saturday, says people are being too quick to rule out Ngannou's chahnces.

Speaking in the build-up to UFC 293, Adesanya said: "I'm going to be there to witness history.

"I'm proud of him, he's leading the charge and I can't wait to see him make history.

"He's a long shot as people say, but this man fears nothing.

"If you listen to his story about what he's been through he's fortified, he's locked in, you cannot shake him, you cannot break him.

"I'm proud of him, shoutout to my big brother Francis, and I can't wait for him to make history again."
