After FA Cup ouster, Diogo Dalot admits Man Utd managerial change has been 'really difficult'

Add another domestic cup competition that Manchester United have been eliminated from, as the Red Devils are now out of the FA Cup after a 2-1 loss to visiting Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

The third-round exit follows Man United's embarrassing elimination in the second round of the Carabao Cup at the hands of fourth-tier side Grimsby Town, marking the first time that the team has been knocked out of the two competitions at the first hurdle in the same season since 1982.

It's been that kind of season for the Red Devils, who sacked manager Ruben Amorim last week and now only have the Premier League — where they sit seventh — to look forward to for the remainder of the campaign.

Adding to the challenges, Man United full-back Diogo Dalot says the transition away from Amorim has been tough on the team, despite their lack of success under the departed manager.

"Really difficult," Dalot told TNT Sports. "It's always a period that you have to find ways to solve problems really quickly. We have to adapt and go again."

Regarding Sunday's match, Dalot felt that Man United were a bit hard done by, as they dominated the stats battle and generated more than three times as many chances as Brighton did.

A late ejection of Shea Lacey did not help the Red Devils attempt at mounting a comeback, he added.

"We created enough to win the game to be honest," Dalot said. "Then the red card gave us a disadvantage because we were on top of Brighton in the last moments.

"Overall, very disappointed because we wanted to go through. All the lads kept trying to find spaces, like I said, really disappointed because I think we deserved to win."
