DAZN News has everything you need to know about Al Ahly.
Al Ahly is located in the Egyptian capital of Cairo, one of seven clubs that compete in the Egyptian Premier League from the city.
Their Cairo International Stadium is situated in Nasr City, a suburb north east of Cairo.
The club was originally established in 1907 for high school students to play sports and gather for social events.
Initially, this did not include football – the first official football team wasn’t established until 1911. However, by 1929, Al Ahly were touring Europe and taking on some of its most famous names.

As one of Africa’s most celebrated clubs, Al Ahly have won their domestic league an incredible 44 times, including the last two back-to-back titles.
They also hold the record for most CAF Champions League wins, most recently in 2024.
Al Ahly can boast a wealth of Egyptian players who have all turned out for the club, but perhaps most widely regarded is Mahmoud El Khatib. He was named African Player of the Year while at the club.
The Egyptian is becoming a real star in Al Ahly’s team, and is on course for most goal contributions for a second season in row.
A former Al Ahly player, El Nahhas took over on an interim basis from Swiss coach Marcel Koller in late April.
Al Ahly are one of four CAF teams competing in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and qualify as winners of the 2020–21, 2022–23, and 2023–24 CAF Champions League.
Al Ahly have been drawn into Group A with Palmeiras, FC Porto and Inter Miami.
