Alan Shearer has warned Chelsea not to adopt the same approach as Real Madrid against PSG as they prepare to face the European Champions in the FIFA Club World Cup Final

The French side soundly beat Xabi Alonso's men in the semi-final, and they remain favourites to beat the Blues in Sunday's showpiece at the MetLife Stadium.

Yet, speaking on the latest episode of The Rest is Football, while Shearer believes it will be tough for Ezno Maresca's men, they have to be clever to get the better of PSG.

“If they go head to head and match them, then I can see another result like Real Madrid," he said.

"But if they're savvy and clever and sit and try and hit them on the break and soak up pressure, then yeah, I would think that they're in with a chance. But I mean, the form and the confidence of PSG is pretty scary.

"You know, from October onwards, they've been the best team by an absolute mile, haven't they? You can go through every single player and they're all on form. They're all playing to the best of their ability, you know?

"So it's going to be tough for Chelsea. It's not impossible. They're in with a fight and a chance. There's no doubt about it.

"Because when you've got likes of Cole Palmer and with the goals that we saw from Pedro, then yeah, a moment of magic, whatever, then that might just give them a little belief, but it's going to be tough for them.”

Although the former England hitman does give Chelsea some hope, Shearer can't help but admire Champions League winners PSG and the work Luis Enrique has done at the club. Going as far as to state he can't see any faults in their team.

Adding, "I think there's no doubt they mirror their manager, their coach. They do everything that he wants them to do in the tempo and the pressing and the passing and all of those things.

"And also, spare a thought for Mbappe, you know, I mean, he's left the building at PSG and won every trophy they've been in since he left. Not only that, they're a much, much better team. They look much more organised, and everyone seems to be on the same page.

"Look at where that first goal against Real Madrid and their pressing comes from. That wasn't quite right 18 months ago when other players were there. So for the manager to get everyone to buy into what he wants and the way they're doing it, it really is sensational.”

“I think if you go right throughout their team, you could put a huge plus to every single one of them and the job that they do, whether it's two fullbacks, whether it's centre-halves, midfield, as we've spoken about, sensational up front.

"Right throughout the team there, there is no weakness in the team at the moment.”
