Phil Foden should be the PFA Player of the Year, according to Bacary Sagna.

Foden has had a stellar campaign with Manchester City, eclipsing his career high for goals in a season by a wide margin and making himself an influential piece of City's attack.

The 23-year-old was deemed "the best player in the Premier League" by manager Pep Guardiola earlier this season, and it appears as though Sagna agrees.

Speaking to Paddy Power, the former City defender explained his choice.

“The PFA Player of the Year should be based on individual performance, and not be related to trophies because some players play for smaller teams," Sagna said.

“Phil Foden deserves the PFA Player of the Year. He’s been magnificent and has been very complete all season; scoring goals, assisting, being active, changing the momentum of games.

“The way he changed the Champions League final last year was something different and this season he’s been terrific. He’s been the best player this season and I’m sure many people will agree.”
