Location

Benfica is one of many clubs based in Portugal’s capital Lisbon. 

The coastal city is the biggest in the country and is among the 10 most populous urban areas in Europe. 

Origin 

One of Europe’s storied sides, Benfica formed in 1904 as Sport Lisboa as a club consisting of only Portuguese players. 

Playing their first match in 1905, it took Benfica 30 years to win their first league title. Since then they have never looked back, consistently challenging for silverware and contending for national supremacy for nearly a century.
