Following their biggest win of the season last weekend over Inter, Napoli are back on track in their quest to retain their Serie A crown and currently sit top of the table.

However, Billy Gilmour is determined to keep his side in contention in Serie A as well as the Champions League and has targeted more goals from his midfield spot to try and keep the champions on track.

The Scot is enjoying an extended run in Anotino Conte's team in place of the injured Stanislav Lobotka and scored his first goal in a Napoli shirt during the win over Pisa last month.

But speaking to Radio CRC, Gilmour admitted he's aiming to add more goals to his game.

“I would like to score more goals. It’d be good to add more goals to my game and also help the team to win, that’d be nice,” confessed Gilmour.

“There are lots of games coming up, so it’s important for us to work hard and prepare for every match. We must be at 100 per cent and recover well to ensure we are ready, proving what a good team we really are.”

But it isn't just in the league where the club are looking to make the mark, they have aspirations in the Champions League, despite their shaky start to this season's league phase.

Conte's side were embarrassed by PSV in their last European outing, losing 6-2 to the Dutch outfit and have only won one of their first three games in the competition. However, former Chelsea and Brighton man Gilmour says he and his teammates are ready to flip the script in Europe.

Adding, “The last game in the Champions League was not at all good and we know that we want to change the narrative. We hope to get out there and immediately prove that Napoli are a great team.

“We really are a strong group, I think you could see that from last season too. The new arrivals have settled in well, both on and off the field, and that team spirit helps us during matches.”
