A Chelsea supporter is embarking on an incredible charity trek which will see him run between Philadelphia and New York City to watch two games at the FIFA Club World Cup .
This year’s tournament, with every game live and free on DAZN , is the biggest and most lucrative incarnation yet with 32 teams competing for the coveted title in the USA across 63 matches.
Hugo Fry, a DAZN employee and keen marathon runner, will take in his beloved Chelsea’s Group D clash with Flamengo in Philadelphia on Friday, June 20 before running 100 miles to attend the Fluminense-Ulsan Group F clash in New York City on Saturday, June 21.
His lung-bursting trek is in support of the Run Between The Goals for CWC campaign to raise funds for the charity Common Goal .
Commo n Goal is a football-focused network which works to connect the cultural and financial influence of the football industry with local organisations all around the world to break down barriers in equality and build a better future for all.
The project works in more than 200 communities and over 90 countries to deliver change through football to young people and Fry is delighted to be supporting their work.
The DAZN employee is currently training hard for the gruelling fundraising mission and completed 50 miles last Saturday.
He said: “DAZN told me I needed to raise the bar this summer and they are broadcasting every game of the FIFA Club World Cup.
“As a lifelong Chelsea fan, I wanted to support my team out in America but the only way was to do something so outlandish that DAZN would be forced to let me go!
“DAZN are making a big splash this summer, so the idea had to be equally big, so I’m attending Chelsea v Flamengo at Lincoln Field in Philly.

“I’m running 100 miles for the Fluminense versus Ulsan game at the MetLife Stadium in New York less than 24 hours later.
“My only mode of transport is my own two feet through the night, so it should be fun.
“As much as I love running and love a challenge, I think this could test me.
“It’s a race against the clock but in support of a brilliant cause to raise money for an amazing cause called Common Goal – a charity which aims to deliver change in 90 countries through the power of football.”
