Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Petit believes that the club should not sign Joao Cancelo.
The Portuguese international found himself frozen out at Manchester City and spent some time on loan at Bayern Munich before another loan spell, with the full-back currently at Barcelona.
Barcelona have suggested they would like to keep him on if they can afford it, but their parlous financial state means that City may need to look for alternative suitors.
One of those is Arsenal, with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney under pressure at times.
Speaking to Genting Casino, Petit thought such an idea would be a mistake by Mikel Arteta.
He said: “I don't want Arsenal to buy Joao Cancelo. I follow Pep Guardiola in this situation, he does not get rid of a good player if there isn't a reason behind it.
“Guardiola doesn't make many mistakes, what's the point of bringing him to Arsenal?”
