Troy Deeney has singled out Marcus Rashford and questioned if he's still lived up to the hype at Manchester United.
Rashford endured a difficult campaign last year, scoring just eight goals and was axed from Gareth Southgate's squad for Euro 2024.
Speaking on William Hill’s new podcast, Three Up Front, Watford legend Deeney believes that Rashford has been hyped so much that it's been difficult for the forward to meet those expectations.
“When it comes to players who haven’t fulfilled their potential, I’d have to look at Marcus Rashford,” Deeney said.
“We’ve built him up onto a pedestal and he hasn’t really delivered. He hasn’t lived up to the hype and the grandeur that the media have put on him.
"When you’re put up to such a high standard, the expectation becomes so unrealistic that it is very difficult to ever achieve that.”
