Tottenham Hotspur are sputtering towards the finish line of the 2023-24 Premier League season, with five losses over their last six matches.

They've dropped into fifth in the standings after leading the league as late as Matchday 10, and their downfall has been especially noticeable away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they've lost by a combined score of 10-2 over their last three away matches.

To say it's been a rollercoaster for first-year Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou would be putting it lightly, and a former Tottenham player believes a big part of the suffering comes down to Postecoglou's tactics when the team is on the road.

Speaking to Genting Casino, William Gallas explained that Spurs are too rigid in the way they approach matches from week-to-week, with the ex-Spurs defender calling for more flexibility from the manager.

"Ange Postecoglou needs to adapt sometimes," Gallas said. "Tottenham have been losing too heavily at times this season.

"I say at home, you should always play your system and make the game difficult for the away team, it doesn't matter if it's Arsenal or Man City.

"But Postecoglou needs to adapt his team in a different way when he goes away to a big side. If Tottenham scored first against Arsenal [on April 28], it could have been a different result."
