Heading into the final day of the FIFA Club World Cup™ fantasy game there was a dilemma playing on the minds of many a manager.
Option one was to play it safe in backing an irresistible galaxy of Paris Saint-Germain stars, nail the captaincy and make a push for mini-league or overall success. Option two was a hugely risky one, gamble on a slew of Blues and hope that Chelsea FC could pull off an upset.
It was a gamble that well and truly paid off for the overall winner of the game, the curiously named ‘Youself a Unique User Name’ who went Chelsea crazy and hit the jackpot.
Starting with Robert Sanchez ($5.3m) in goal and a back-five made up entirely of Chelea players, who all registered positive returns, the winning team was capped off with Joao Pedro ($6.5m) up front and the cold fantasy-crusher, Cole Palmer ($9.6m) as captain.
Palmer was a star, both of the fantasy game and, obviously, in real life where he won the adidas Golden Ball. It was the decision though to go with a fifth Chelsea defender that ultimately saw the winner pip the second-placed team (Shaihuludp) who opted for a four-man Blues backline and Pedro Neto ($6.5m) in midfield.
Thanks for playing along over the past month and we hope to see you all next year for the FIFA World Cup™ fantasy game.
