Boca will face tough competition in Group C alongside Benfica, Bayern Munich and Auckland City.

Their opening match is on Monday against Benfica at 7pm local time, hosted at the impressive Hard Rock Stadium in Miami where Zenon will aim to showcase his rich talents.

He rose through the ranks at Union Santa Fe, before being snapped up by Boca Juniors in January 2024 for €3.2 million.

Since then, Zenon has established himself as a regular starter with the South American outfit, impressing this season in particular with his high-energy style which allows him to cover plenty of ground.

The Argentina U23 starlet is tied to the Buenos Aires side with a contract valid until December 2028, but he has already been linked with clubs such as Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Benfica, Lyon, Napoli and Lazio.

Noted for his tactical versatility, Zenon has played in multiple positions during his time at Boca, but is often deployed on the left of the midfield.

Born in Argentina but of Syrian descent, Zenon is tipped to win full senior honours with his national side.

Boca, meanwhile, will look to carry on a proud tradition of international club competition contention when they head Stateside for this summer’s Club World Cup, which is bigger and more lucrative than ever.

The Argentine heavyweights, regular contenders in the Primera División and the Copa Libertadores, are famed for their power on the global stage as much as their stadium, La Bombonera.

That means they arrive at this tournament as a potential contender to go all the way, as they seek to help break the European dominance on the event.
