In any other season, Manchester City would be heading to this summer's tournament as one of the favourites, but 2024-25 hasn't gone to plan for Pep Guardiola's all-conquering side.
Following four Premier League title wins in a row, City fell off the pace this season and were dumped out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.
However, as disappointing as this season has been, City should still be in force in the States and will go into the competition as holders after their win in 2023.

Juve may have won a record 36 Serie A titles but haven't managed to maintain a championship bid this campaign and were left battling for a place in next season's Champions League.

It's the second appearance at the FIFA Club World Cup for UAE heavyweights, having made it all the way to the final in their last outing back in 2018.
There, they were beaten by Real Madrid and find themselves in a group this time around with two more of Europe's elite in Manchester City and Juventus - making the path to the knockout rounds a tough ask.
Al Ain are no pushovers, though, having won a record 14 UAE Pro League titles and qualified for this year's tournament thanks to their AFC Champions League win in 2024.
They'll know they'll need to be on top of their game, but it's a massive opportunity for them to showcase what they and the region have to offer.
Al Ain will be looking for a hero to get them out of the group and that role usually falls on the shoulders of this Togo international.

No team has won more titles in Morocco than Wyadd's 22 championship wins and earned their FIFA Club World Cup passage thanks to their AFC Champions League win in 2022.
The only current Wydad player who is a regular for the Moroccan national team, Harkass is the current Wydad captain.
He'll have some busy work to do in this group organising a back four against two of the best attacks in Europe.
This is Mokwena's first post away from his native South Africa, where he had previously led Mamelodi Sundowns to three Premier Division titles.
He moved to Wydad in July last year, and will lead them into the tournament this summer.
