Gunners on the march

Six points clear at the Premier League summit and three straight wins in the Champions League, Arsenal are in fine fettle.

They travel to Slavia Prague tonight looking to maintain their 100% record and few would bet against them doing so.

Gabriel Martinelli is enjoying himself in the Champions League this season and will aim to keep up his impressive goalscoring record in the competition.

The Brazil striker, 24, found the net in the Gunners’ victories against Athletic Club, Olympiakos and Atletico Madrid.

Slot machine facing huge test

Liverpool stopped the rot with a 2-0 home win against Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday night.

And how they needed it after losing six of their previous seven matches in all competitions.

But their one win during that dismal sequence came in the Champions League with a 5-1 success at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Arne Slot’s reigning Premier League champions now face a mountainous task with tonight's visit from Real Madrid, the 15-time European champions.

Anfield should be rocking for what is a huge test of Liverpool’s credentials in a competition they are looking to win for a seventh time.

Intrigue over Trent reception

The visit of Los Blancos to Merseyside is dripping with fascinating subplots.

Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso is a hugely popular figure at Anfield after memorably helping Liverpool to win the Champions League in 2005.

But there is no denying that all eyes will be on Trent Alexander-Arnold on his first return to his hometown club.

The Scouser joined Madrid on a free transfer during the summer and is in line to play after recovering from the hamstring injury that interrupted his start at the Bernabeu.

The manner of his departure divided opinion amongst the Liverpool fanbase, so he could receive a mixed reception tonight.

Expect Alexander-Arnold to be largely cast in the role of pantomime villain - albeit a few weeks early as the festive season approaches.

Reds boss Arne Slot insisted: "He will get a warm welcome by me, let's see if he is on the pitch and then how the fans react, I've no clue. But he gets a warm welcome from me, that's for sure."

Heavyweight clash in Paris

Reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain versus six-time winners Bayern Munich, as it will be at the Parc des Princes, is a fixture to increase the heartbeat.

Luis Enrique’s PSG are top of their domestic league and also the Champions League table as they look to replicate last season’s historic treble.

But standing in their way is a Bayern side who head to the French capital on the back of 15 straight wins this season.

Vincent Kompany’s German champions, who reached the Champions League quarter-finals last term, beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 on Saturday evening to extend their remarkable winning run.

England captain Harry Kane – 24 goals in 16 appearances for club and country this season – will look to show once again why he is one of the best strikers in world football.

Let’s be Frank, Spurs need a win

With just one win in their last five games, Tottenham Hotspur are experiencing something of a wobble.

After an encouraging start to life under new boss Thomas Frank, it is starting to feel a bit Spursy again.

Last week saw them dumped out of the Carabao Cup at Newcastle before losing at home to bitter rivals Chelsea.

Tonight's visit of unheralded Copenhagen in the Champions League has thus taken on added importance and is simply must-win. Nothing less will do.
