CR Flamengo have taken the Club World Cup by storm. The Brazilian giants had their knockout round ticket punched after just two matches, thanks to a dominant 2-0 victory against Tunisian outfit Espérance followed by a rollicking 3-1 defeat of Chelsea FC. Flamengo then capped their first place finish in Group D with a 1-1 draw against LAFC, setting up this date with destiny against Bayern. Wallace Yan leads the way with two goals, while Jorginho and Gonzalo Plata have amassed two assists each. Midfielder Nicolas de la Cruz is battling a left knee injury and is a doubt for Sunday.
FC Bayern München started the tournament with a bang, reaching the double-digit plateau in a 10-0 triumph over Auckland City FC. The German side were then tested in a scintillating encounter with CA Boca Juniors, ultimately emerging with a late 2-1 victory. Their Group C campaign, however, ended in disappointment with a 1-0 loss to SL Benfica and a second-place finish in the group. Michael Olise has been the dangerman for Bayern with a trio of goals and a pair of assists, while Jamal Musiala also has tallied three goals. Right behind that dynamic duo are Thomas Muller and Kingsley Coman with two goals each.

“Bayern are such a strong team – it’ll be a brilliant encounter. We’ll try to prepare for it in the same way, just as we’ve done up until this point. We want to stay loyal to our style of play. Of course, we’ll need to defend well throughout against Bayern, but we’ll also try to keep possession and play our game.”
Danilo, Flamengo defender
“We need to start with intensity in our next game with Flamengo. Honestly, I'm feeling positive because of the second half and what we achieved with our team, how we created the chances. If we can go 90 minutes with this tempo and how we created our chances, I feel positive for the tournament."
Manuel Neuer, Bayern goalkeeper
