Iqraam Rayners found the net three times, but only one counted as Mamelodi Sundowns FC secured the first victory for the African continent at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™.
Captains Sergio Ramos and Lautaro Martinez netted in the late game to make sure both sides left Los Angeles with a point, while three powerful headers saw CA River Plate ease past Urawa Red Diamonds.
Group F
MetLife Stadium, New York
Fluminense and Dortmund battled to a scoreless draw, but it was the Brazilians who came away thinking they could have taken all three points. A brilliant Gregor Kobel thwarted chance after chance from attacking trio Jhon Arias, Agustin Canobbio and Everaldo, while at the other end Dortmund failed to create clear goal-scoring opportunities.
Group E
Lumen Field, Seattle
Three headed goals saw Los Millonarios over the line against Red Diamonds. Facundo Colidio netted the first before half-time. After the break Sebastian Driussi and Maximiliano Meza added two more to end Japanese hopes of a comeback.
Group F
Inter&Co Stadium
It was the Iqraam Rayners show as Sundowns overcame an hour-plus weather delay and Korean opposition to take home Africa's first victory at the tournament. His slick outside of the boot finish after a through-ball from Lucas Ribeiro put Sundowns top of Group F.
Group E
Rose Bowl Stadium, Los Angeles
Rayados were unafraid of going toe-to-toe with UEFA Champions League finalists Inter, and their stoutheartedness almost led them to victory. Sergio Ramos helped the Mexicans to a shock lead, heading home from an outswinging Oliver Torres corner kick. Lautaro Martinez leveled for Inter after a slick free-kick from Kristjan Asllani freed up Carlos Augusto in the penalty area. Monterrey came closest to finding a winner as Sergio Canales hit the post with a drive from outside the box.
