Manchester United take on Lyon on Thursday night, with the Europa League presenting itself as the last opportunity for the club to win some silverware this season.
Having been dumped out of both domestic cup competitions and endured a dismal league campaign, the Europa League has given United fans some rare moments of joy this campaign. Speaking exclusively to DAZN News, thanks to FreeBets, former Red Devil Jaap Stam sees no reason why they can't win the whole competition.
"I think they can, yeah, because it's a totally different competition," the Dutch legend said.
"You only need to focus on a couple of particular games, and United have shown, under [Erik] Ten Hag, but also with [Ruben] Amorim as well, that they can do that. Even in the league, for certain games, they can really focus themselves to get results. And that's what you need playing in Europe as well and getting these results. So I think they can win that."

Ruben Amorim's men travel to Lyon this week, and if they can overcome, the French side would take their place in the semi-finals of the competition. But Stam adds that even if they do end up tasting European successes, it wouldn't make up for the disappointment the season has been as a whole.
Going on to say, "If they win it, is it then a happy ending to a season? I don't think so.
"I think it's a very good result that you then get. But I still think that looking back at the season and how the season has been going, you know, getting a different manager in, how the games have been played, how you finished in the league as well, the position on the table - the table is bad at the moment."
"So I'm not too happy about that. I don't think people can be happy about that. But, you know, at least you get something if you win the Europa League. And a couple of people will be happy, I think, on the board."
