Chelsea will travel to the USA for next week's FIFA Club World Cup, looking to add another trophy to their season's haul after last month's Europa Conference League win.

It would be a fitting end to a campaign that also saw them qualify for next year's Champions League, and they'll head to the tournament spearheaded by their new number nine, Liam Delap, after he was left out of the England Under-21 squad for the Euros.

The 22-year-old completed a move to Stamford Bridge last week after the Blues triggered his release fee of £30 million to sign the forward from Ipswich after their relegation from the Premier League.

Chelsea fought off competition from a host of Premier League clubs to sign the front man, after impressing last season with his 12 goals in a struggling Ipswich side.

Delap had been expected to be part of Lee Carsley's party heading to Slovakia for the tournament, having played a major part in helping the young Lions qualify for the tournament, but was missing from the final squad list.

Club World Cup

It means the Manchester City graduate can now make his Chelsea bow when the Club World Cup kicks off next weekend, as he becomes the latest player to don the club's number nine jersey.

Chelsea are in Group B and will begin their tournament with a clash against LAFC on June 18 in Atlanta, before playing Flamengo and Esperance de Tunis.

Two players that won't be appearing in the States are Chelsea's young goalie Teddy Sharman-Lowe, and Manchester City midfielder James McAtee who have both been included in Carsley's squad, as they look to defend the trophy they won in 2023.
