There's still one more match left to play before Matchweek 12 of the Premier League officially comes to a close, but the bulk of games have been completed and we can look back at a wild weekend in England's top flight.

Included in that is another Arsenal domination in the North London Derby, Liverpool's stunning fall from grace and Manchester City's untimely loss.

Here are some of the bigger talking points from Matchweek 12.

North London is red

Another North London Derby is in the books, and once again it's Arsenal holding the bragging rights.

The Gunners cruised to a 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, with Eberechi Eze leading the way with a legendary hat-trick.

It was an absolute demolition by Mikel Arteta's men, with the score flattering Spurs as their only goal came from an improbable half-field shot from Richarlison that caught David Raya well out of his net. Richarlison's worldie was one of just two Tottenham shots on target as Arsenal continued to be a defensive powerhouse, but the outburst of goals was the biggest for the Gunners since they dismantled Atletico Madrid 4-0 in the Champions League over a month ago.

Arsenal now hold a six-point cushion atop the Premier League standings and have looked like the only real title-worthy side over the course of the season so far.

It's still early of course, and Arsenal fans will know all too well that they cannot take their league position for granted at this stage in the campaign, but given their consistent play in the face of a big injury crisis, the Gunners certainly look the part of a team of destiny.

Liverpool's in trouble

The season started with another side looking like a team of destiny, as Liverpool shot out of the gates with five straight victories and a five-point advantage at the top of the standings.

Since then, the Reds have won just once in the Premier League and lost six times as the wheels have completely fallen off the wagon for the defending champions.

Their latest embarrassment came Saturday as Liverpool fell 3-0 to woeful Nottingham Forest at Anfield. It was Liverpool's second straight 3-0 loss, and the players were left searching for answers after Saturday's terrible display.

“At the moment, it is a mess,” Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said after the latest loss. “That’s just a fact.”

That Liverpool went from league darlings to doormats in just a few short weeks is shocking, and questions are starting to be asked of manager Arne Slot along with the players themselves.

That this historic slide comes after the club spent over £400 million in transfer fees in the summer is a massive worry, as Liverpool cannot simply spend their way out of their self-made mess.

Sky Blues choose wrong time to lose

Not that there's ever a good time to lose, but Man City did not need to lose ground on Arsenal this week. Unfortunately for Pep Guardiola's men, they did just that as they fell 2-1 at Newcastle United on Saturday.

It was Man City's second loss in their last four league matches, and it allowed Chelsea to leapfrog into second place.

With due respect to Chelsea, the Sky Blues are widely considered to be Arsenal's main competition for the Premier League title, but ill-timed defeats such as Saturday's just reinforces the belief that the team may not be ready to reassert themselves as the premier force in England.

This weekend was one of the rare occasions in which Erling Haaland was kept off the scoresheet. And while the Sky Blues did get a goal from Ruben Dias in the loss, it's still generally true that if Haaland is kept quiet, so is his team.
