Paris Saint-Germain entered the FIFA Club World Cup™ on a high having just conquered their first UEFA Champions League. They picked up where they left off, dominating a formidable Atlético de Madrid 4-0 in their opening match. Despite a shock loss to Botafogo in their second match, the Parisians recovered well in a 2-0 win over Seattle Sounders FC and topped Group B thanks to stellar performances from the likes of Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, and the ever reliable Vitinha. PSG have shared the goals around with six players sitting on one goal. UEFA Champions League player of the season Ousmane Dembele remains a doubt for the match as he recovers from a nagging hamstring injury.
After drawing 0-0 with Al Ahly FC in their opening match, Inter Miami CF and Lionel Messi elevated their game, eventually finishing runners up. In their second match, a moment of Messi magic inspired the team to a 2-1 victory over Portuguese giants FC Porto. In their final group stage match it was Luis Suarez who stepped up, providing a goal and an assist in what was almost a famous victory against Palmeiras before the Brazilian side level things late. What awaits Miami is a date with Messi's former employers, PSG. However, with the Argentinian No10 and Suarez in their ranks, the Herons will be confident they can take on any challenger, even the European champions.

“They (Inter Miami) are a team with a lot of qualities, a lot of experience, because they have a lot of great players. So obviously, we know they're going to cause us problems. Our goal is to play our football, to continue to perform as we have done throughout the season, and to win. It's the knockout stage, so obviously we can't afford to make any mistakes. From the start of the match, we have to be focused, we have to be 100 per cent, and we're going there to win."
Desire Doue, PSG forward
"The challenge tomorrow is to test ourselves against the best team in the world. We know the difficulty of the match. If we play at their pace, we will suffer much more. They have shown us that they are not a perfect team and they can be hurt. We have to find a way to take advantage of the few chances they will give us."
Javier Mascherano, Inter Miami coach
